Hey there everyone! Here's the lowdown on what happened at the meeting tonight:
Donuts all around!
Next meeting is THURSDAY Oct. 17, 7 PM, on the
146.88 repeater. "Be" there. (no animals, dead or alive, allowed...)***
If you have not yet paid your dues, pay them
by the November meeting (Nov. 7) or you will officially be removed from this esteemed organization (and there will, of course, be dead goats involved). The following people HAVE paid or have made arrangements to pay their dues: Marilyn, Jud, Mel, Drew, Mark, Earl, Keith, Rick. If this isn't you, GRRR.
If you ordered a t-shirt and have not given me money, you're soon to be in hot water and knee-deep in goat entrails. (Those people are Joshua, Philip, Chris and Tim)
Give me money, or bad things will happen. If
you want a t-shirt (which are hilarious), are on sale for $6 each. If you would like one (and I KNOW everyone would), please e-mail me
(Marilyn), for I will not receive it. I need to know your
name, and the shirt size
that you want to order.
We are taking our shirts to other clubs to sell for $12 as fundraisers.
Earl gets the first shift of going to the
OKC ARC next Tuesday evening. I need more volunteers so that Earl and I are not the only two people to crash other people's meetings. Be the first on your block to sign up! E-mail me!
Our attendance at the YMCA Halloween booth is cancelled due to overflow of response on the part of the YMCA. HOWEVER,
we are donating candy, so if you haven't already,
please give me $2+ dollars to put toward that
[Ed.'s note: even the poor Prof. Ahern, Jud W5JA, who has two kids going to
college soon, has given!!] I need the candy money by Friday, October 18 (next Fri),
so please, please donate! Take the $ into the Conoco Wing of the Union and put it in box 239 (ask someone if you don't know where that is....go in from the patio behind the Union and it's on the southeast wall.) If you don't remember the number, look up OUARC (maybe Alpha Sigma Delta in the listing) on the list next to the boxes ... or mail it to the same box by putting a stamp on an envelope and sending it to the following address:
OUARC
c/o Center for Student Life
900 Asp, OMU, Suite 370, Box 239
Norman, OK 73019-4058
A post-meeting idea was brought up....we could join Neighborhood Watch on Halloween night. I am going to call the Norman PD and see if/what they need us to do for that, and I'll give more information on the net meeting next week
(Oct. 17).
The ouarc.ou.edu website is now alive! Check it out!
On October 26, at 10 AM, we are going to clean out the old shack, and get stuff around to sell/move it.
I NEED YOU TO E-MAIL
ME AND TELL ME WHETHER OR NOT YOU WILL BE THERE. That means that I should receive an e-mail from EVERYONE! The more people we get, the faster it goes. Everyone needs to help out!
In December, we are going to vote on whether or not we want to be affiliated with ARRL. This means 50% of the club members must be ARRL members. Think about it, so you can vote on it.
[Ed.'s note: If you're a ham, or will be, joining ARRL is worth it just for QST
magazine.]
Antenna Day will be March 29, 2003. That is the Saturday after Spring Break. Put it on the calendar NOW!
A few of us are going to have a "get your general/morse code brushup" discussion session
every Thursday evening at 7 pm (after meetings on meeting Thursdays). If you are interested, or know someone in another club that is interested, please be there! (or
e-mail me for more info).
Ed.'s note: Your 10 meter privileges (once you get the
code) will let you talk to Australia, St. Helena (island famous as home-in-exile
of ??), etc. In other words, do it!
Is anyone interested in doing contests next semester? Yes? Let me know.
The next in-person meeting will be accompanied with a movie and pizza and your favorite beverage. I'm not sure yet where it will be (thus dictating the form that the beverages may take), but more on that as the time approaches.
