There was some concern about the low attendance (4) and what it might take to increase attendance next time. There were email and newspaper announcements for this meeting. Is there a better night to hold the meeting?
Brett made a few announcements:
No-Code-Tech license classes will be held in January, tentatively at the NWS office on North Campus. Spread the word to interested persons, and for more information, see the web page:

Activities: It was noted that we missed the VHF event in September, but a number of other contests will be occuring later in the year. Brett read a list of upcoming contests. No commitments were made to participate. Keith asked about the Collegiate ARC contest, and agreed to look it up after the meeting.
[recorder's note: The next VHF contest will be in January, the collegiate ARC championship is 21Z Nov 6 to 3Z Nov 8]

Brett explained about the bookstore no longer allowing T-shirt sales by asserting that they had exclusive license to sell on campus. Some absurdities (such as the store being closed in the evenings) were noted. There was some discussion about the possibility of selling off campus or selling food or drink on game days.
Room problem. The latest event is that our key to the club room no longer works. Dr. Ahern will investigate what is going on.
There is a need to try to increase membership. We were successful in getting enough names to remain an OU student organization. We need to retain those people, and also encourage meeting attendance; suggestion was made to line up some good speakers for the meetings. Dave mentioned a really good speaker he heard in Dayton, Cliff Stoll, K7TA. Since he is not local, he is clearly not obtainable, but it was suggested that maybe we could try to get the Campus Activities Council Speakers Bureau to consider someone like him, and have it jointly sponsored by CAC, OUARC and maybe some computer science organizations on campus.
[recorder's note: see the following web site for more information on Cliff Stoll: ]
