Meeting Minutes
19:00 Tuesday, December 3, 1996
Energy Center 723
- This is our first meeting at the new First Tuesday 7:00pm time. Many
more people showed up so its looking good.
- Fifteen 16Ah and five 25Ah sealed lead-acid batteries have been donated
to the club and are currently taking up space in the President's car,
office, and home, and the Vice-President's home. Members who wish to
borrow one at least until we get a ham shack are strongly encouraged
to speak up.
- No progress on a ham shack, though we are not alone. Apparently the
Fencing club has been denied permission to use campus facilities for
practice with no consistent explanation as to why.
- The Red Cross Shelter Excercise that was tentatively scheduled for
February has been canceled.
- The No-Code Tech license class will be held Mondays 7:00pm to 9:00pm
starting January 13th and running through March 3rd. Details will
be posted on the
web page.
- The Red Cross EmTrac mobile command center will be open to the public
this Saturday afternoon at the Norman Walmart. Anyone who hasn't yet
seen this monster truck should.
- People who participated in the Intro to Disasters for certification
as communications technicians should contact the Norman Chapter office
this week about getting ID cards.
- The National Weather Service is progressing with the plan to bring up
a Cleveland count spotter net. SCARS has approved use of their 147.06
repeater. People who wish to volunteer as net controllers should
contact the OUARC. All others should monitor 147.06 during severe
weather.
- We've lost track of the progress on getting W5OU for the club callsign
and will try to figure out where we stand.
- At the time of this meeting UOSA club budget had not yet been released.
[As of Wednesday afternoon, the proposed budget contains $153.48 of
funding for our Office and General Expenses and $207.75 for Programs,
Events, and Activities. The final budget will not be annoucned until
late December or early January.]
- Two majordomo mailing lists have been created to facilitate discussion:
- ouarc-list@gcn.ou.edu exists for chit-chat among
club members
- wx-oun@gcn.ou.edu exists for coordinating amateur radio
weather spotting in this area.
These lists are independent of the club mailling list. To subscribe to
a list, send an email message from the address at which you wish
to receive postings to majordomo@gcn.ou.edu. The body
of the message should contain one line
- subscribe list-name
giving the name of the list to which you wish to subscribe. Include
the line
- help
for a list of other commands.
