Meeting Minutes
13:30 Saturday, February 3, 1996
Energy Center 723
We had a large turnout and covered a lot of ground at this meeting. There
are a number of issues still pending so read carefully and send in comments,
suggestions, reports of successful completion, etc.
- Dues and Membership Information Forms were collected.
- Mark Klein (N5HZR) reported that the SCARS/OUARC license class has about
35 students, most of them OU affiliated. The class is going well.
- The repeater usage guidelines were handed
out and discussed.
- The following resources from previous incarnations of the club have been
identified:
- A 1970 TS820 HF rig.
- An HF antenna
- The autopatch bursar account: balance $90
- The Alpha Delta Sigma call sign: W5TC
- Several dysfunctional HF rigs.
- Dr. Fagan (WB5FZD) is looking into getting a permanent ham shack for the
club. Once we have that, we can move in our equipment and make it
available for use by the membership.
- Now that we have enough dues collected we can open a club checking account.
As permitted under UOSA rules, we'll use a regular bank
account rather than the bursar to make accessing the money easier.
- JP Bostic (KB5PSP) suggested a T-Shirt design. Other ideas should be
submitted as soon as possible so that we can begin taking orders.
- JP Bostic (KB5PSP), having committed the sin of voluntarily doing
something, declared an intention to run for the office Vice
President. The office will be voted upon at the next meeting.
Other person's wishing to run for the office must declare themselves
prior to that meeting.
- Anyone wishing to run for a club office should look over
the bylaws and the
description of duties. Please
notify the president if you intend to run for an office.
- Several people suggested that the club look into ARRL affiliation and
the benefits thereof.
- Mark Kleine (N5HZR) noted that SCARS may have a number of old publications
which we could add to our library.
- James Deaton (KC5PRQ) offered to establish email and web aliases for
the club at the uoknor.edu domain level. He will also look into
creating a local newsgroup.
- There was interest in participating in this summer's Field Day from
the top of Mount Scott, a hill about two hours from here.
Field Day is an annual event in which clubs around the country
operate "in the field" for twenty-four hours and see how many
other clubs they can contact.
