Recent News:
Photos of equipment removed from the old Wilson Center,

The OUARC, aka the Alpha Sigma Delta Radio Fraternity, has
existed in various incarnations since the 1920's. This most recent
edition began in the summer of 1995 and is quickly moving to reclaim
much of the past glory (and equipment!). Here you will find tales
of both the distant past and our recent achievements.
Ralph, KA5RUZ, had this old OUARC QSL card. It was from a place where he got
his QSL cards, but it has gone out of business. It was used as an example in the
package he got. Click on the image

December 2 at 18:30
OUARC and Astronomy Club members received the beacon signal from
Sputnik II, a 1/3 scale model of the first man-made satellite.
We could hear the oscillating tone using HT's and rubbery ducky
antennas as the satellite passed overhead.

of fun.
- Red Cross Shelter Excercise
- November 22, 1997 ouarc@ou.edu
The Cleveland County Chapter of the American Red Cross held its
first shelter excercise. This practice setup for distaster relief
efforts allowed disaster team members to become more familiar
with proceedures and to identify the potential pitfalls of setting
up a shelter. Amateur radio operators assisted by setting up
and maintaining communications throughout the exercise. We are
looking forward to another more complex excercise in the spring.
- 1997 Field Day - June
28-29 - John Patrick KC5VEI - jpatrick@ou.edu
Field Day was a blast (of wind at least)! We set up at the South
East corner of the Duck Pond with more battery power than any
of us wants to have to lug around again. The details of our trials
(think wind) and triumphs (how many hundreds of contacts?) will
appear some time after the Secretary returns to this state.
- HamCom - June 7, in Dallas, TX - John Patrick KC5VEI - jpatrick@ou.edu
We will leave from the EC east parking lot Saturday at 7:00am.
There may be gas reimbursement for those car-pooling, depending
on participation.
- Antenna Building Party - May 31 - John Patrick KC5VEI
- jpatrick@ou.edu
Much was accomplished including the building of a few antennas.
A 4 band dipole for the club was built along with a few personal
2m antennas. Thanks to Don Byrer KJ5KB for hosting.

demonstrations. Please send email if you wish to participate.

This 3 hour prerequisite for Emergency Communications volunteers
will be offered prior to the October meeting starting at 10:30am
